Clearing the Air: DEEP & DPH’s TCE Indoor Air Guidance
Guest speakers:
Dr. Gary Ginsberg, Ph.D, Senior Toxicologist at CT Dept. of Public Health
Carl Gruszczak, Jr., Environmental Analyst, DEEP-Remediation Division
Date: Thursday, May 26th , 12:00 pm – 1:15 pm
Location: McCarter & English, CityPlace I, 185 Asylum Street, Hartford, CT 06103
Please join us for a discussion with Dr. Ginsberg and Mr. Gruszczak regarding the State’s TCE indoor air guidance, its applicability, indoor air testing, ventilation and notice requirements and its implications on Transfer Act sites. Take note – recent delegation letters from DEEP on new Transfer Act filings include new language which strongly recommends that the LEP review the TCE guidance and “take action as may be appropriate.” Also, we understand that additional pending Wave 2 standards may be released in the next few weeks which are likely to include revised groundwater volatilization criteria and revised soil vapor volatilization criteria. There have been informal indications that the revised criteria will be based on a more updated risk model than was used for the 1996 (and 2013) RSRs, resulting in many cases in significantly lower criteria.
